Annual Report 2023/24
Llansanffraid Glan Conwy Annual Report 2023/24
Your Community Council receives £30,000 a year in the form of a ‘Precept’ from Conwy County Borough Council to be spent on providing services and facilities to make our village a better place to live.
Because of this the Council is subject to almost the same rules and regulations as the County Council and is required to employ a Clerk and pay for Insurance, Audit Fees, Councillor training, Meeting rooms, etc.
This year almost £12,000 was spent on the things you largely see around the village.
These include the popular fireworks display at Cae Ffwt, helping maintain the cemetery, installing Christmas tree lights and replacing the storm-damaged and ageing flagpoles on the green. There are 32 benches and 7 defibrillators to maintain. In March we held an extremely well-attended defibrillator training evening at Church House We continue to provide an occasional skip service for residents. We also contribute to the cost of the CCTV camera on the A470.
Almost £16,000 of grants and donations were made. The major grants were for damp repairs to Church House, fence repairs at Cae Ffwt and new outside play facilities at Ysgol Glan Conwy. The Council funded the Coronation event at Church House, the Warm Hwb initiative at Cae Ffwt and a fourth year of Christmans vouchers. Smaller donations were made for the planters at Maes Hyffryd, the new Glan Conwy Ramblers Group, and a village Clean-up day.
This year promises to be extremely busy with proposals already tabled to include the refurbishment of the Scout HQ at Acre Field, improvements to amenities on Acre Field, the launch of a new Council website and a series of noticeboards to be placed around the village, Dolwyd, Craig, and Pentrefelin. We intend to organise a number of public meetings to seek opinions about residents’ priorities for the village.
